How Does BBL Hero Work?
BBL Hero works by delivering precise bursts of broadband light energy to the deeper layers of your skin. This energy stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, essential proteins for maintaining youthful and vibrant skin. As your body naturally replenishes these proteins, you’ll notice a gradual improvement in the texture and appearance of your skin.
The BBL Hero can be used for corrective treatments, rejuvenating treatments, and to delay skin aging!
BBL Hero has several sub-treatments that it can perform, the BBL Forever Young, BBL Forever Body, BBL Forever Clear, and BBL Forever Bare.
These treatments can:
CORRECT photodamage, rosacea, erythema and flushing, and dyschromias on the face and body
IMPROVE inflammatory acne, acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity on the face and body
REMOVE sunspots, age spots, and hair from the face and body

Possible Side Effects
When booking your BBL treatment, please keep in mind the possibility of redness, darkening of spots, bruising, swelling, flaking, and peeling after the treatment.
Avoid Sun
Avoid direct sun and all forms of tanning (including self-tanner or spray tans) on the treatment area for 1-2 weeks before each BBL treatment.
Discontinue Exfoliants + Accutane
Discontinue Retin-A, Glycolics, Alpha or Beta Hydroxy Acids, and exfoliants for one week prior to each treatment. Discontinue Accutane (and any isotretinoin products) for 12 months prior.
Cold Sores
If your face will be treated and you have a history of facial cold sores, please notify us in advance so that we may provide you with a prescription for antiviral medication to start before your treatment. The CO2 treatment cannot be performed on your face if you have an active cold sore.
Hydrate Skin
Best results are achieved when the skin is well hydrated at the time of treatment. For this reason, use these products for 14 days prior to treatment: Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar, Alastin Silk Shield Mineral SPF 30
Hyperpigmentation
For patients who may have an increased risk of (PIH) post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation post treatment, use the following products for 14 days prior to treatment: iS Clinical Brightening Complex and Alastin Silk Shield Mineral SPF 30
Be Healthy
It is important that you are in good health at the time of your treatment to ensure your body has a healthy healing response after the treatment. Healthy healing is important for your safety (i.e. to minimize infection) and to ensure good results.
Results + Follow Ups
It is important to wait at least 4 weeks after a CO2 treatment and until any redness, swelling and/or peeling have completely resolved before getting other treatments on the same area. Anticipate it taking 3-6 months after your final CO2 treatment to see complete results.
Treatment Day
Come to your appointment with clean skin – remove all makeup, creams and lotions. Dress so that you may comfortably and modestly expose the treatment area, when applicable (i.e. chest).
Medications
If antiviral medication was prescribed for you, please make sure to continue to take as directed. Acetaminophen/Tylenol may be taken if needed to relieve any discomfort. NSAIDS and anti-inflammatories, should not be used for 1-week post treatment.
Keep Clean
Please keep the treated area clean and do not apply makeup to the skin for the rest of the day following treatment. Mineral sunblock and clean makeup may safely be used starting the day after treatment unless the skin is peeling or any open skin is present.
Ice
A cold compress or an ice pack may be used to provide comfort and minimize swelling. This is typically only needed within the first 12-24 hours of the treatment.
Be Gentle
Avoid using exfoliants, retinols, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, or topical Vitamin C products for at least a week after the treatment. Do not use any mechanical cleaning devices (i.e., Clarisonic), facial scrubs or washcloths on the treated area - only wash the area with your hands – for at least a week.
Peeling and Flaking
Pigmented areas (brown spots) will get darker immediately after the treatment and may continue to darken for 2-3 days and then gradually flake off. Do not pick, scratch, scrub or attempt to help remove the brown spots as they flake off.
Avoid Heat / Exercise
Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs, and sweaty activity; this includes exercise of any kind.

The products below should be used following your treatment: Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar, Alastin Ultra Calm Cleansing Cream, Alastin Ultra Light Moisturizer with TriHex Technology, and Alastin Silk Shield All Mineral SPF
Avoid Sun Exposure
After treatment, keep the treated skin out of direct sun until it is completely healed and any redness or sensitivity have subsided.
Schedule Follow Ups
Please schedule your follow-up appointment 90 days after your final treatment to assess results and determine whether additional treatments are needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What to Expect During and After Treatment
During your BBL Hero session, you’ll wear protective eyewear, and our skilled nurse practitioner will gently apply the device to your skin. Most patients describe the sensation as mild heat with minimal discomfort.
After the treatment, you may experience some slight redness or warmth, which typically subsides within a few hours. Visible brown spots will get slightly darker and gradually disappear in 3 weeks. Unlike with IPL treatments, brown spots will not turn super dark and flake off, but will gradually lift.
To achieve optimal results, we recommend a series of BBL Hero sessions spaced a few weeks apart, depending on your unique skin goals.
BBL Hero is not IPL
BBL Hero is a VERY different concept than the IPL or Intense Pulse Light treatment many patients are familiar with. Gone are the days of crisp, crusty downtime. BBL Hero has very minimal visible downtime. The days of treating aggressively with lots of heat, which can cause swelling and other unnecessary forms of downtime, are gone. Most traditional IPL treatments will char or burn the skin to get immediate results, ultimately damaging the skin unnecessarily and increasing the intensity and length of downtime.
